Use Eggs Shells To Add Calcium to Garden Soil And Houseplant Soil By Sue Doenim Egg shells are a great source of calcium for soil, both garden soil and houseplant soil. Microwave eggs shells for 3 minutes, let cool, then crush them in your hand until they become a fine powder. Place the crushed eggs shells in a cloth sachet, making a egg shell tea bag of sorts, place the egg shell sachet in your watering can, fill with warm water and allow to set for 1 hour, then use that water to water your houseplants with. For adding calcium to the garden soil, just add the microwaved, crushed egg shells directly to the soil.
