Spring Flower Garden Chores By Sue Doenim Spring is the time to get busy in your flower garden with various chores so your buds and blossoms will do their best for you this year. Spring is the time to divide some of those perennials that have begun to take over their space. Hostas, daylilies, Shasta daisies, liriope and coral bells are some perennials that can be divided before the spring growth appears above ground. When the leaves of your spring flower bulbs, like tulips and daffodils, appear in the spring, it is time to give them some food. Fertilize them with a balanced fertilizer to ensure quality blooms next spring. Don't remove the spring bulb's foliage until it dies naturally, that is also working to ensure quality blooms for next spring, the foliage feeds the flower bulbs.
