Save Money By Diluting Household Cleaning Products By Sue Doenim Want to save some money and still use your favorite brand of household cleaning product? Add a little water and dilute the product to make it last longer. Many household cleaning products are intentionally made stronger than necessary so users won’t have to work as hard, be more impressed with the cleaning product and become repeat buyers of the cleaning product. Adding the equivalent of one-fourth of the bottle contents of water to dilute the cleaning product will extend the life of the product and the life of whatever it is you clean with the product, saving you money on both counts. The diluted cleaning product will also produce less harsh fumes and be gentler on hands. Green household cleaning products can also be diluted with water to extend the life of the product.
