Kitten Proof Your Home Before You Bring Kitty Home

Making a safe environment for a new kitten is very much like making a safe environment for a crawling baby or toddler. For a safe and happy home environment, you need to kitten proof your hoe before you bring kitty home. Cats by their very nature are curious, combine that curiosity with the robust energy of a kitten, and you have a tiny fur ball that is going to poke her nose into everything. Kittens, like toddlers, can't read and don't understand what is safe to eat and what is potentially harmful to them. To kitten proof your home, put away all cleaning products behind a cabinet door or closet door so the kitten can't get into them. If you have houseplants, be aware that some are poisonous to animals and need to removed so the kitten can't nibble on them. Any blind cords, electrical cords etc., that Kitty could become entangled in need to be kitten-proofed. Kitten proofing your home is not only for your kitten's safety, but also for the safety of any valuable breakables that you might have. Kittens will climb and knock things over, broken glass is a potential human and kitten hazard. Any irreplaceable heirlooms or glassware needs to be secured before bringing kitty home. Look around your home before you bring kitty home, see your space through the eyes of new parents, that will help you detect any potential dangers and enable you to kitten proof your home.
