How To Protect Fruit Trees From Sun Scald And Peach Tree Borers By Sue Doenim Fruit trees must be planted in locations where they will receive the most sunlight, unfortunately that makes fruit trees susceptible to sun scald. Peach, plum and apricot fruit trees are the fruit tree most likely to develop sun scald. You can protect your fruit trees, specifically the tree trunks, from sun scald by painting the south and west sides of the tree trunks with a water-based white paint. The arch enemy of the peach tree is the peach tree borers, which will kill your peach tree if you don't protect your fruit tree. A simple way to fight peach tree borers is to apply moth ball crystals around the base of the peach tree, then cover the moth ball crystals with dirt.
