How To Cut Corn Off The Cob By Sue Doenim A slippery, round corn cob and a sharp knife equals a recipe for disaster, or at least a minor cut. Knowing how to cut corn off the cob can save you a cut finger and yield some of the freshest corn for your recipes. There are two ways to safely cut corn off the cob. The first way is to evenly slice off the bottom of the corn cob so you will have a flat end to stand the ear of corn on while your slice the corn off with a downward motion of the knife. The second method to safely cutting corn off the cob is to lay the ear of corn down and slice off one side of the corn niblets, creating a flat side on the ear of corn. Rotate the ear of corn as you cut, keeping the flat side of the cob down on the cutting surface until all the corn is removed.
