Flower Garden Tip, Give Your Clay Flower Pots A Bath By Sue Doenim There is just something about clay flower pots that all gardeners and love, but before you plant your flowers in them, you need to give those clay flower pots a bath. Not because they are dirty, but because the clay flower pot will suck up all the moisture from your potting soil and dehydrate your flowers. A day before you plan to plant flowers in a clay flower pot, give the clay pots a bath by soaking them in mild soapy water. Dish washing liquid works fine. The clay pot will soak up the water and won't drain the potting soil dry.
