Back To School Green Ideas

One of the most healthiest things that you can do for your child’s back to school days is to pack them a nutritious lunch. Going green with the packing materials is even better. Pack lunches and beverages in reusable containers, avoiding any pre-packaged, sugar laden lunch food items. While there’s nothing that writes better than a brand new number 2 pencil or colors quite as good as a new box of crayons, every parent knows those new items won’t be new for long. Chewed off pencil erasers, over sharpened nubs of pencils and broken crayons will occur within a day or so. Before spending a small fortune on all new back to school items such as these, take stock of what you might already have and put it to use. Several half-pencils or several unbroken crayons can be utilized by your student, stretching your back to school budget and helping you be eco friendly. All that paper junk mail that fills our mailboxes can be recycled into scratch paper for school children. Most have blank backs and envelopes can opened up and used to scribble on. If you drive your children to school, try to form a car pool with other parents in your neighborhood to reduce gas usage. Always shut off your cars engine when dropping of or picking up your children at school to save gas usage. There are many little things that we as parents can do to go green, reducing waste and pollution with back to school ideas that will add up and help our environment.
